HHB - Suppliers

Located in London and founded by Managing Director Ian Jones in February 1976, HHB has grown to become Europe's leading independent supplier of professional audio equipment, playing an important role in establishing a number of digital audio formats along the way. HHB is a also a major manufacturer of professional audio recording devices and recording media in its own right, and the exclusive UK distributor of products from other leading manufacturers via a specialist UK distribution division called Source. Another specialist division, Scrub, serves the needs of the film and TV post industry from premises in the heart of London's Soho.

As long ago as the early 1980s, it was HHB's championing of Sony's early PCM mastering products and DASH multitrack recorders that pioneered the digital revolution in music recording.

During the 1990s, HHB made DAT its own; with a series of groundbreaking products including the PORTADAT Portable Professional DAT Recorder, and the launch of its own range of high-performance HHB DAT tape.

More recently, MiniDisc, CD-R and HD recording have followed, with HHB at the forefront once again with a market-leading series of HHB professional CD recorders, the highly successful PORTADISC Professional Portable MiniDisc Recorder and the groundbreaking PORTADRIVE 8-channel Location Sound Recorder. Alongside its hardware development, HHB also continued to ensure that audio professionals would always have access to the most dependable, high-performance recording media as the HHB Professional Recording Media range grew to encompass all major digital recording formats.

Today, the innovation continues, as HHB launches the world's first broadcast quality digital recording microphone. The HHB FlashMic combines a studio quality microphone capsule with a broadcast quality Flash recorder to deliver more than 18 hours of recording from the field. Durable and easy to use, FlashMic provides radio journalists and news organisations with exceptional sound quality and enhanced workflow features including high-speed USB file transfer, easy location of recorded tracks, automatic date and time stamping, and more sophisticated configuration tools via the FlashMic Manager software application.

With a growing product range and a healthy export market in over 50 territories, HHB has built an enviable network of international distributors - each of which has a total commercial and technical understanding of HHB products and their position in the market. Having already successfully established HHB Canada as a subsidiary office in Toronto, HHB has since appointed Sennheiser Electronic Corporation (SEC) as its exclusive distributor for the USA and Latin America, - a move which has dramatically raised HHB's profile across the American continent.

Alongside HHB's growing profile as a manufacturer, the company's direct sales, distribution and technical support activities have gone from strength to strength. Employing an experienced team of 40 people in prestigious London premises which also boast Europe's largest independent pro-audio technical service facility, HHB is today Europe's leading DigiDesign supplier, and the exclusive UK distributor via specialist division Source of many leading professional audio product ranges including Røde microphones, PreSonus recording tools, Universal Audio analogue and digital processors, Eventide processors, Lynx audio interfaces, Rosendahl synchronisers and Sony Oxford software plug-ins. And with establishment of its Soho-based division 'Scrub', HHB is now ideally located to serve the London audio-post community from the very heart of the industry.

With activities spanning product development, manufacturing, distribution and UK direct sales, HHB is uniquely placed to continue its commitment to serving the needs of audio professionals everywhere.
